The whole outlook of mankind might be changed if we could all believe that we dwell under a friendly sky and that the God of Heaven, though exalted in power and majesty, is eager to be friends with us.
Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe.
I spent the past few days in North Carolina visiting my Mom.
Good food. Good conversation. Good sleep.
It’s amazing how — at 30 — I’m beginning to enjoy the relationship with my Mom more than ever. There’s a mutual respect for life experience. She asks for my advice and I do the same.
Only now, I’m willing to listen a little bit more.
Over coffee this morning, I came across the following few verses that seemed to deeply resonate.
“Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” - 90:12
“Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.” - 90:14
“May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish the work of our hands for us — yes, establish the work of our hands.” - 90:17
I love the sense of abandon in each of these.
It’s a reluctance to control.
It’s an abiding knowledge Someone Else is at the wheel.
Overcome the notion that you must be regular. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary.
For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you will find disorder and every kind of evil practice. But the wisdom that comes from Heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who show in peace raise a harvest of righteousness.
Currently among my favorites.
Valentine’s Day fun. You can find more of these on my Facebook page.
It’s been a while since I’ve posted here. Sorry.
I’ve been a little busy recently. It’s not an excuse, just a fact.
Truth be told, I’m trying to get better at this Blogging thing. My history is a spotty-at-best one.
I’ve tried the WordPress thing for a while now, and I’ll continue to write there from time to time, but I think I like Tumblr a little better for day to day stuff.
It’s just a little easier. And it seems to fit my ADD tendencies a little better.
Also, it seems it’s a place to collect a little bit of everything I like that’s out there. So here’s to new posts and a growing collection of stuff I like.
Someday it’ll be fun to look back at this and laugh.
And here’s to more of that.
Missing Colorado today.
If I find in myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world.
